At our breeder's recommendation we switched to Verus Adult Chicken. Both are "all natural/organic" and can be found at specialty pet stores. Good luck with your pup, hope he feels better soon!Raehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05844223371538832222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1670252685898016604.post-20766913007442859542009-02-18T13:45:00.000-05:002009-02-18T13:45:00.000-05:00I have a 3 mos. old chi/terrier mix and we started...I have a 3 mos. old chi/terrier mix and we started having some problems with him too. Took him to the vet (Jacob was in pain, he couldn't walk without yelping) and he did x-rays and saw nothing wrong, said he was healthy but gave him a shot of painkillers and a shot of antibiotics. He was much better that day and has been better since but today he is lethargic again and doesn't want to eat. We have an older dog and Jacob always liked to eat his food better instead of his puppy food. What brand do you use? it would be helpful if you could share that with me! Thanks!Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15003839514369954013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1670252685898016604.post-85463537777225706932009-01-05T18:09:00.000-05:002009-01-05T18:09:00.000-05:00@melanie that's an interesting point, and nice tha...@melanie that's an interesting point, and nice that you could cure it without drugs. Our dog has actually been on adult food since we got him from the breeder at 10 weeks (she felt that - for our food brand - it was more nutritionally appropriate for the breed). But after the whole incident was over, we did talk to the breeder and she suggested a different brand of food that is lower in protein and less likely to cause the growth issues. He's been on the new food since then and although he's much older now, we haven't had any problems. So apparently diet can also be an effective treatment.Raehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05844223371538832222noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1670252685898016604.post-9382946922994078542009-01-05T17:33:00.000-05:002009-01-05T17:33:00.000-05:00I 5 month old basset puppy had these same symptoms...I 5 month old basset puppy had these same symptoms when he was about 3 months old, he seemed to be extremely sore, so I took him off of the puppy food, and switched him to adult and he was better almost immediately.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1670252685898016604.post-80487660965955895382007-07-31T19:04:00.000-05:002007-07-31T19:04:00.000-05:00I have a 6 month old male rott, he's been limping ...I have a 6 month old male rott, he's been limping around, mostly on the front legs, for over a month. We went to the vet and he said he has "Pano" or growing pains. We started giving the pain medication,Rymidil, but that wasnt helping much. So the vet changed him to Prevcix. I still don't see that it is making the dog more comfortable. I will be going back to the vet in a couple days to see what else we can do for him. What Pain medication did you recieve? Or do you have any other info that might help us get him thru this painful growing period.
